Granite Rose Coast - Charity Challenge - Brittany Coastal PathGranite Rose

The Granite Rose Coast is a weekend walk in a beautiful part of the Brittany Coastal Path (which runs from Mont St Michel to Lorient - in total 150 miles! Do not fear we have selected only part of this coastal path. The section we will be walking is in the Perros Guirec area of Brittany. The walking is easy but you still need to be reasonably fit as the path undulates in parts. We will be passing through bustling fishing ports and stone hamlets. You walk past the smoothed pink granite boulders weathered into weird and wonderful shapes that give the Cote du Granit Rose its name.

This is a social weekend and everyone we have taken in the past has said what a great time they’ve had. On the weekend you combine walking with eating and drinking quality French food and wine. The weekend is completed with a celebratory lunch on the Sunday.

The weekend starts with travel from Jersey, Guernsey or the UK with one walk organiser acting as escort in France.

ITINERARY AND HIGHLIGHTS
Day 1 – Friday
Travel and arrive in St Malo, then transfer by coach to your hotel in Perros Guirec. Our arrival time at the hotel will be approximately 23.00 as it is a late departure. Consequently, we advise you to have a snack before you leave or on the boat.

Day 2 Saturday Perros Guirec
We will have an early breakfast and be ready to leave the hotel by nine and walk out of Perros Guirec From here, you rejoin the coast via Pont ar Sauz, walking past numerous sandy bays, the many tiny off-shore islands enhancing the views on clear days. We will lunch on the Plage de Trestel and then continue on to Port Blanc. At the end of the day a coach or minibus will pick us up from Port Blanc and take us back to Perros Guirec where we will go the hotel. We will have time to rest and then go to a restaurant for an evening meal and a well earned glass of wine. (20kms 5.5hrs)

Day 3 - Sunday
We will depart at about 9.00am from the hotel after breakfast. Today’s walk is a real highlight, with fine views in good weather to the Sept Îles. Your route follows the Sentier des Douaniers, a magnificent coastal path originally used by anti-smuggling patrols, then leads along paths through a reserve dotted with weirdly shaped rocks, moulded by the wind and waves,
to the seaside resort of Trégastel. (10km, 3hrs).
Where we will have lunch at a local restaurant.

We recommend this walking weekend to everyone who likes walking, good food and a glass or two of French wine. Not a bad way to spend a weekend and, of course, with our delightful company.
